I don't plan on using my shed much and i really didn't want to trench a wire into the shed. but for the few time a year maybe once lol i might need a light and have to run a power cord there its. I had an extension cord that i had hung on a hook by the door with the female end connected to the light. if i could not find what i wanted by flashlight in a couple of minutes, i grabbed the cord, headed to the house and plugged it in. after my search was over, i unplugged the cord at the house, coiled the cord up and hung it in the shed.. I am almost done building an 8x10 portable shed and would like to get some basic lights inside it. i plan to use it just for storage, so would i ba able to run a 12g 3 prong outdoor extension cord from my house's external outlet to the shed?.
Shed wiring. hello everybody. i have a 8x10 shed in backyard, currently powered via a "permanently" installed extension cord and power bar, however i am attempting to make a cleaner, more finished installation. i intend to keep the extension cord (15amp 12 gauge, female end removed) in place rather than run new wiring as it is more time and. What the op proposes is not actually unsafe. the problem part is the protection of the wire between the house and shed. flex on extension leads is not designed for outdoor use. if itcould be protected from damage and from the sun and rain it would be perfectly safe. just a rubbish way of doing it.. Electrical circuit wiring for a shed we have a new shed and would like to install an electrical circuit to it. i have added internal wiring for lights and small power tools, but the circuit breaker box i have installed in the shed is pretty jury rigged with an extension cord that makes it all pretty unsafe (forget about meeting code)..
